cucumber's Diaryland Diary

I'm having too much fun, I realized it last night.

I was going to write an entry with a wicked mix tape (actually, my WinAmp playlist) but I lost interest half way through. I didn't want to just throw it out though, so I thought I'd post it anyway. The cheer you up and get you dancing around your room mix:

  1. Sleeper - Sale of the Century
Some good bouncy Britpop to start you off right. "You said I was cheap? You were the sale of the century."
  2. The Smiths - Frankly Mr. Shankly
I love Morrissey and his unabashed greed - "I'd rather be famous than righteous or holy" too.
  3. The Beatles - Paperback Writer
"I need a job so I wanna be a paperback writer." Yup.
  4. Nirvana - Lounge Act
I just really like it. It makes me want to dance around.
  5. The Velvet Underground - Rock and Roll
"Her life was saved by rock and roll."
  6. Propellerheads - Velvet Pants
A gem that I almost forgot about - thank Lisa for reminding me.
  7. Travis - Be My Baby
I listened to The Ronettes a lot last Christmas, so it's like indie nostalgia for me!

Sleeptalking

haha oh man, my Dad's friend Donna (previously mentioned in this diary as the Get A Job Lady, though I can't find the entry) just called and apparently this morning she called at 9 or 10 a.m. and I answered and mumbled something about "Dad says I have to pick up on the first ring or else..fd;lgjdlgjlkdfg" and then I hung up on her or something. She said I made no sense at all. I was probably stil asleep. I am so cool.

I still love you the girl from mars

Wow, I spent all of yesterday crying about how crappy my life is and all that shit, and then I wake up today and find three packages for me! Two were from Amazon.com - the Teaches of Peaches from Justin, and 1977 by Ash and a PHP book from Victoria. Nice! And then, a (drumroll please) KatPackage!! This time it came with a Barbie doll that looks EXACTLY like Xenia, it's so cool! I have the same Barbies (the McDonald's tiny ones) so I'm going to make one that looks like me then sit them both on top of my computer.

I feel like I'm married. Ah well. I just saw an episode of Drew Carey where he married his (male) boss so that the guy could get a green card. Do you need a green card?

Haha and Kat also sent me this chunky bracelet that's so funny.. It's little scraps of Garfield comics rolled up into beads. I can't explain it - I'll take some webcam pictures later and show off my gifts. There's also this cute little puzzle with a bear sitting between a bunch of pumpkins.. oh man now I have more weird stuff for my walls! If anyone else wants to send me weird stuff to put up on my walls, please feel free to email me and I'll send you my address, probably.

Anyway, you guys all made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I was so happy and fairly enthusiastic about living and all that crap that I actually phoned the YMCA and enquired about the Youth Internship Program, but they told me to call back on Thursday because there's some training stuff that you have to go to first, and they don't have details on when that is. Ah well.

The inside of the Peaches CD is so fucked up. There's a picture of a guy buttfucking another guy on stage - at least that's what the picture looks like. Uh. I don't remember that part of Peaches' show opening for Elastica. It's such a pretty CD though, all sparkly and pink and sleazy, I'm seriously considering making a layout.. mwahahaha.

Oooooh, and today I had a spark of inspiration and decided to make my design for the Christmas Auction Alvin and the Chipmunks-themed. Everyone: "Me I want a hula hoop.." man, the Chipmunks Christmas special kicked ass.

Now I'm listening to the Ash cd and it is so full of memories for me, awww. I remember buying this album for $23.99 at Sam the Record Man in Markville Mall when I was in grade 9, and listening to it constantly. Karina, remember when I lent Jason that Ash article with all the Star Wars stuff in it? No? Okay, well I did. ASH ASH ASH! I wonder what happened to my old copy of this CD? I can't remember if I sold it last year in my big I'll sell a bunch of CDs to make money for my England trip! extravaganza, or if I lost it or what. No matter, got it now, yipee!
